Walker Condos Start Renting

Posted on Monday, January 19, 2009 in Business, Downtown, Real Estate, Tacoma

The Walker Condominiums, a luxury condo conversion in the St. Helens Neighborhood, has started renting out some of the building’s units. What is surprising is the affordable prices they are being listed at considering finishes and rental rates at apartments/condo buildings in Downtown Tacoma. Units advertised for rent are listed at $1.19 per sqft. 1 bedroom units range from 730-899 square feet. 2 bedroom units range from 1,341-1476 square feet. $868 for a 700+ square foot 1 bedroom in a luxury building shouldn’t have a problem being rented quickly.

Owners or renters, this is good news for the area, more market rate housing filling up with people to breath some life into the area.

The “market” sure seems to be balancing itsef out. Once converted to condos and now being rented out after improvements have been made and the building saved.

Perhaps they will be Maxwell regulars.

You’re right Erik, whether renter or condo owners, what we need in that neighborhood is more people filling up these great new (and fixed up) buildings and eating at Infinite Soups, Drinking at The Mix, and going to the movies at the Grand.

  4. Crenshaw Sepulveda says:

This building would have been fully rented out all these years it was vacant for the condo conversion. I’m glad it will have life again but now we are making up for lost ground. The people that once lived in the Walker before the conversion did all things Marguerite mentions, albeit some of the places had different names at the time.
